School Games

‘The School Games is a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport.’

Here at Durham Trinity we aim to get as many pupils as possible participating in the school games. Below you will find some information on the set up of the school games and the possible progression for our pupils. See below for a gallery of our pupils in action at the School Games.

The School Games are made up of four levels of activity: competition in schools, between schools, and at a county/area level:

Over the past few years we have had a number of pupils who have gone on to represent school and county, with some even attending national events. The events in which we have had success have been Boccia, New Age Kurling, Wheelchair Basketball and Fencing to name but a few. In the future we hope to have more pupils involved in more sports.

County Inclusive Rowing Finals Level 3 - February 2020

Following selection from level 2 events pupils competed in the Level 3 finals. This event is a new event to County Durham School Games events and it proved a very successful one.

Pupils rowed over 1, 2 and 3 minutes to achieve a distance.

School Games Level 2 Qualifiers – January 2020

This event was very well attended by pupils from 9 schools in Durham and Chester-le-Street.

Following on from these trials teams will be selected to represent the area in our County Finals, Friday 20th March, 2020

School Games Platinum Award success 2019

School submitted an application which was successful to remain a Platinum School in School Games. This is a Government led awards scheme to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. School use this award to evaluate our current P.E. provision and competition element and assists us in further development.

Level 2 Swim Qualifiers - December 2019

Pupils from key stage 2 , 3 and 4 attended this swim qualifier to make the Level 3 team in March, pupils swam and competed really well and have every chance to make the County team, teams will be announced prior to the Level 3 finals.
