The majority of Primary classes are based on the ground floor.

There are two classes (Tyne and Tees) catering for primary aged pupils with autism who require specialist autistic provision and are part of our Semi-Formal pathway. Both classes provide a low stimulus, distraction free learning environment.

There are 6 classes (Aln, Browney, Coquet, Derwent, Lumley and Tweed) catering for other EYFS/Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils.

Warkworth, Raby and Bamburgh are part of the Semi-Formal pathway, where the classes are taught mainly in their own classroom, by the class teacher with specialist subject teaching in PE and RMDT only.

Durham and Lambton are part of the Formal pathway, where classes move classrooms to access specialist teaching.

Bowes class is part of the Semi-Formal pathway and is taught mainly by the class teacher remaining in their own classroom for the majority of lessons. They access specialist teaching for RMDT and PE as well as attending Houghall College as part of their KS4 curriculum.

Alnwick and Hylton classes are part of the Formal pathway and move classrooms to access specialist teaching. Pupils are taught English and Maths in their tutor groups with some pupils accessing GCSE qualifications where appropriate.  Pupils choose options when they enter Key Stage 4.
